ANGELINA LUZI is a singing and songwriting teacher, choir conductor and music workshops facilitator to disadvantaged groups. Currently teaching at the Brit School, Italia Conti, Morley College, Forest Hill School and at the Refugee Council based in Croydon, Angelina is CRB checked and gives also private one to one tuition from home or at student’s home, mainly based in the south east London area.
Originally from Italy where she studied Bel Canto, polyphony and Gospel music, Angelina Luzi is also an independent singer, songwriter, producer, performer and recording artist who graduated in Popular music Studies from Goldsmiths University of London and has performed at Glastonbury Festival singing with producer Matthew Herbert, the London Jazz Festival, the Barbican, Ronnie Scott’s, The 229 with Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Band, Shepherd’s Bush Empire supporting Jessie Ware and at Lewisham People’s Day supporting Grammy nominated Tippa Irie, The Royal Festival Hall as well as Torino Jazz Club to name a few.
Subjects covered in her lessons:
– Vocal technique: expansion and strengthening of vocal range exploring different vocal qualities and genres like pop, soul, jazz, rhythm & blues, folk, funk and musical theatre. Vocal hygiene, breath control, vocal improvisation, interpretation, microphone technique, stage confidence (calming the nerves) and development of the pupils unique voice and style are also covered and encouraged. Angelina follows a combination of the Estill model, modern vocal techniques by voice specialists like Jeremy Fisher, Gillyanne Kayes and Dane Chalfin and studies related to the Feldenkrais method of somatic education and Alexander technique together with her own personal experience as a professional singer and performer.
– Songwriting: Angela loves developing and discovering artists, their personality, voices, musical style and branding. She encourages people to think out of the box, who they are as an artist and what they want to say.
She pushes and helps them to write their own songs, arrangements and productions through the exploration of originals, pop hits and jazz standards.
– Music theory: preparation of music theory grades examination (ABRSM and Rock School) covering scales, key signatures, transposition, cycle of 5ths, rhythm and harmony (grades 1 to 5).
