Angelina is an Italian singer / songwriter and music-maker based in London.
Her sound and visual world is a combination of ancient tales from her Italian roots that go deep into the Adriatic sea and the Greek theatre with a twist of London life at its most colourful and cutting-edge.
Grown up singing in polyphonic and gospel choirs, she later moved to London to study music and graduated in Popular Music Studies at Goldsmiths University along side peers like Katy B and James Blake. Angelina’s artistry and creativity managed to flourish together with her passion for voice arrangements and theatrical performances which led her to write, arrange and perform her solo material with the 50-piece choir (Goldsmiths Vocal Ensemble) at the renowned Royal Festival Hall for the Chorus Festival, conducted and curated in collaboration with Mercury prize nominee ESKA.
Her recent work has seen Angelina performing as the singer of EAST WALL, a large-scale spectacle of dance and live music which took place at one of the capital’s most iconic buildings, the Tower of London (18th – 22 July 2018), directed by world acclaimed choreographer and composer Hofesh Shechter to celebrate east London’s rich cultural heritage.
As a vocalist Angelina has also performed at Glastonbury Festival singing with producer Matthew Herbert, London Jazz Festival, Barbican, Ronnie Scott’s, The 229 with Dele Sosimi, Shepherd’s Bush Empire supporting Jessie Ware and at Lewisham People’s Day supporting Grammy nominated Tippa Irie, as well as Torino Jazz Club to name a few.
Her collaborations as a singer/songwriter and recording artist include projects and producers throughout London, Italy and Paris: MasQua (folk electronica), Afrodizzie (afrobeat), Sparky Riot (reggae /dub), Nemesis (techno-electro), Domenico Angarano (Long Story Short Album launch – deep southern Italian music meets India), Selkie (folk, celtic, rock) and Terra Viva, exploring deeply rooted folk Italian music tradition mixed with gipsy/rock/world influences.
Following her debut single releases, Let Your Heart Be Mine, No Eyes There and Fight Your Skin, the latter released in Paris where she filmed her latest music video, she is now announcing her debut EP ‘Invisible Ties’, showing a wide spectrum of musical influences, exploring the sonic themes of electronic music while wrapping them in string-laden folk and pop. Invisible Ties EP is out now through Kanuga Records and available on all digital platforms.
